CAUTION, the trail map posted should only be followed to the top of the mountain. Our return trip came to a dead end resulting in us following a coyote trail. Only experienced and skilled hikers should follow the full trail. Also, be cautious of rattle snakes as one of our trips was cut short due to our encounter . . .
This Trail is well defined and one simply has to follow it to make their way up along the beautiful landscape with vast views of Eastlake, Otay Lake and the magnificent Salt Creek Golf Course. Sections of the trail are rougher than others so I suggest you pay close attention to the trail if you decide to make the trip.
Reminiscing on my childhood, I challenged my son up the hill in a two man race. Boy am I out of shape! The steep slope we chose challenged my endurance. Luckily it was short enough and forgiving enough to allow me to complete the run. Once on top of the hill, we stood on a few small boulders to enhance our view. I have to say, we do live in a beautiful city!
